Although my figure drawing adventures are (temporarily) on hold, expect to see some more illustrations soon! :)

A predictable post title for a predictable post: more figure drawing!

Just a bunch of random drawings done within the past week. Still experimenting..

Eventually I'll start posting something more than figure drawings, but for now here's a shirtless man!

I'm starting to figure (hah) out that models must be notoriously bad at showing up, because the model didn't show up again. Some random guy subbed in for this one. I had some fun with perspective and enlarged the foot and leg-- maybe next time I'll exaggerate it even more.

And then we drew some hands and feet. I discovered I need to practice some more with these appendages.

Back at figure drawing again! I really need to part from this realistic stuff and get more stylized. That'll be my goal for the next few weeks-- that and to get better at gestures.. oh boy.

My teacher wanted me to show her I could do faces, so I focused a lot on the face and didn't get a chance to finish the rest. Whoops

  

These humans are severely deformed, thanks to my fantastic gesture drawing skills. I'll be studying anatomy for a while.

Hopefully I'll get more confident with my drawings and get a better grasp of anatomy. I also need to work much looser and quicker! And I really need to focus on the emotion of it all too, as well as the story, and eventually character design and extrapolation... Lots of work to do.. hopefully I'll see some progress soon.

More figure drawings

My fun figure drawing summer has been initiated this week! Here are some drawings I've made so far:

The drawing on the left is actually the intern at the gallery I go to for figure drawing sessions-- the model stood us up, so she subbed in. She had no idea what she was doing, but she sat like a pro. The one on the right was drawn entirely in vine charcoal... never again.

Figure Drawing

A few figure drawings from about a month and a half ago, and the only ones I've done since! These aren't the best, but I'm hoping to improve this summer. I'm totally immersing myself in drawing nakey folks-- hopefully I'll get somewhere after 2 months of figure drawing 3 days a week. I'm going to push myself towards drawing more stylized too.
